liner notes: | From the hill country of Texas, to the streets of New York, to the Ozark back woods, then over the Golden Gate to Sonoma. The scene switches now to San Antonio. The person speaking is San Antonio radio legend Joe Anthony, who ushered in R&B in the old days. He says, "Make a real S.A. blues record like the old days, back on the east side. "Takoma Records president, Denny Bruce, said, "I want a Doug Sahm blues record." So we packed the bus in the Texas summer heat and we were off to the land of rock dreams, California. "We needed great guitar sound - enter Dan Healy, Grateful Dead sound wizard. California know how and Texas soul, that's what I was after." |
production: | Executive Producer: Jerry Meltzer Recorded at Sonoma Recorders, Santa Rosa, CA Rolling Stranger Production |
