excerpt from the liner notes on DOUG SAHM - SAN ANTONIO ROCK (NORTON CED-274):

In the meantime, Doug had assisted local singer Jimmy Dee make what was to be his final session for TNT Records. Several years Doug´s senior, Jimmy Dee (real name: James Fore) had burst on the scene in late 1957 with his band the Offbeats and their explosive hit, Henrietta. "That had a great sound, Jimmy's record," Doug later said. "Great white boy music. I played guitar a bit for Jimmy . . . at that time, that was a big deal label to be on, TNT." After the Offbeats' follow-up You're Late Miss Kate flopped, Fore went back to the TNT Studio in (probably) late 1958 or early '59, Doug Sahm in tow, to record Rock-Tick-Tock and I Feel Like Rockin'. Doug supplies lead guitar for both - Fore's only recollection of Sahm is that "he was a hell of a guitarist" - but the resulting 45 made no impression at all and Fore, exasperated, gave up singing altogether.
