Corrido written by an officer in Pancho Villa's rebel army during the Mexican Revolution for his girlfriend following the troops. Proving the song's popularity during that revolution, every woman following Villa's army was called an Adelita. Some of them even fought side by side with the men as soldaderas. Reissued on Arhoolie box set The Mexican Revolution.
